A Marvellous Morning at the Moruya Market
It's no secret that I love markets, so on a recent family trip to the NSW South Coast I visited the Moruya Market with a friend and our daughters.
Although it was the middle of winter, and the rain had been falling for several days, the market was filled with an interesting range of stalls. We joined the crowd of locals and holiday-makers to enjoy browsing the market in the unexpected Saturday morning sunshine.
The outdoor market is located beside the Moruya River and features an eclectic range of stalls.
There is always something that I really MUST have at every market I visit! And I desperately wanted to buy a mirror framed with wooden fence pales. What a brilliant way to upcycle unwanted fence pales! Unfortunately I didn't think the mirror would survive the five hour drive back home. Not to mention the problem of trying to fit it into the car!
My favourite market product!
The locals were at the market to purchase their fresh local produce for the week ...
and for fresh native flowers to brighten their homes.
Market food is an important element of any market and I have to admit to feasting on these delicious sate sticks with homemade sate sauce! A little difficult to eat politely but yum ......
While on the coast we enjoyed long walks on the beach and had fun exploring the rock pools. Although we were searching for shells and sea glass, my favourite find was this beautiful heart-shaped rock.
The Moruya Market is held every Saturday, from 7.30am - 1pm, at the Riverside Park in Moruya.
I'd love to come back to this market in the middle of summer to enjoy the buzz of a summer holiday market.
Note to self: book another holiday during the Christmas holidays ...
