About
We’re the Riverina’s favourite country market for handmade, homemade and homegrown goodies
River & Wren Market is held on Wiradjuri Country. You’ll find us at the Wagga Wagga Showground six times a year. We bring together more than 100 traders, street food vendors, and fun for the kids.
It’s a place where you’re welcome to come as you are and join our diverse community (oh, and your four-legged friends are welcome, too).
What you’ll find
Market shops
Browse goods from handmade jewellery and homewares to woodwork, unique pieces for the garden, art from talented locals and lots of other bits we know you'll love.
Food hall
Foodies can indulge in sweet treats like cakes and licorice, while our region’s local producers keep the pantry and fridge stocked with dressings, jams, honey and organic, free-range meat.
Café seating
Grab coffee, food and drinks from your favourite traders, then grab a seat and enjoy. We have tables and chairs inside the food hall and outside too.
Family fun
Bring the kids because you’ll find plenty to entertain them with activities like face painting and the jumping castle. You’ll also find a shady spot to rest on the grass beside Kyeamba Smith Hall with seating and games.
Meet Emma
Owner, River & Wren Market
I’m a family-oriented, tea-drinking market lover who’s an accountant by day and a Cheezels addict by night. (Just kidding, Cheezels are a 24/7-kinda gig!)
I’ve been an avid market-goer for years and, as of 2023, I’m also River & Wren’s proud new owner.
I consider myself a Wagga girl. I went to school here before moving away for a few (*ahem* 20) years. One of the best decisions I made was to move back with my daughters in 2015. It really is home!
River & Wren is a market that brings people together: vibrant and passionate creators, makers, and growers alongside a community of people of all ages, interests, and backgrounds. I love the hustle and bustle of the market, chatting with traders, and the thrill of discovering new treasures.
I’m in awe at the creative talent on display at each and every market. You won’t catch me doing much craft (I’m a numbers girl at heart), but I do love creating community, nurturing connections, and cheering on small businesses. These strengths are a perfect fit for the job, if I do say so myself.
I hope you’ll join me (and a few thousand others) at the market soon!
Our history
It all started with the dream of our founder, Jennie Burns, to create a market that rivalled those in the city.
The first market was in August 2014 with a few dozen traders. The nervous wait to see if people would show up was worth it because they certainly did – thousands flocked to the Wagga Showground and have kept on coming ever since.
At every market we welcome our regular shoppers from Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne – and even further afield – travelling to Wagga so they can enjoy River & Wren.
Now led by Emma Grant, the market continues to be known as a place to find the best handmade, homemade and homegrown goodies
River & Wren has now been running for more than eight years. We’re a firm favourite on the Wagga events scene and beyond…and we plan to be for many years to come.
