Apply to run our Community BBQ
Support your group’s fundraising efforts
At each market, we invite a local charity or fundraising group to run our Community BBQ and keep the proceeds to support their cause. We provide a space (approximately 4.5 metres x 3 metres) and access to thousands of hungry market-goers free of charge.
Our expressions of interest are always open. While we often confirm the allocation of market dates with interested groups at the start of each year, we accept submissions at any time in case of cancellations.
What you need
While we provide a space, your group will supply everything else. Event set-up is from 7.30am and the BBQ runs throughout the market from 10am to 3pm. River & Wren runs rain, hail and shine, as does the BBQ, so please come prepared.
You’ll need to bring:
A gazebo or marquee structure
BBQ (large)
Tables
Chairs (if needed, but it’s likely you won’t have time to sit!)
Cooking utensils including knives
Appropriate food storage containers
Food handling gloves
Cooking oil
Bread
Sausages and other meat
Condiments
Onions
Bacon and eggs (if you’d like to sell bacon and egg rolls)
Water and soft drinks
Napkins
Cleaning equipment
Cash tin and float
Eskies and ice (the site is not powered)
Bin
Happy, smiling volunteers!
You must also have public liability insurance (we’ll need a copy), provide a safe workspace for your volunteers and your customers and remove all your rubbish from the market. Bins at the market are for our customers only.
